Learning Colors, Colors Song for Kids
Learning Colors for your kids is so easy through our colors song.
(Lazy Sunday afternoon in a park. Neena is doodling something on her sketchpad with a large box of Crayola-like crayons)
Appu: Oooh! Neena that’s gorgeous! Is that a butterfly?
Neena: Yes, it is! Thanks!
Appu: It’s so beautiful out here! Look at all the colours around.
Tiger: I like it here too!
Neena: We should come out to the park more often.
Appu: We should! Let’s take a stroll around the park…There is so much for us to see!
(Appu breaks into a song set to hush little baby. As they take a stroll, the colors figuring in each stanza is more pronounced.)
Appu
Ooh! How fun it is to be out!
Colours here and colours there and all about.
Neena:
Red
Rose is red, and that’s what you said.
Plums and apples are bright deep red.
Tiger:
Blue
The sky above is a lovely blue.
Bluejays are blue, that’s nothing new!
Appu:
Yellow
The sun shines on the yellow hay,
Dandelions are along the way.
Neena:
Black
Tweeting little blackbirds sit on a tree.
Cuckoos and crows are black; They fly free
Tiger
White
Soft, fluffy clouds; the doves in flight,
And mute swans are bright and white
Appu
Green
The grass is green, and the leaves are green.
The green moss in the pond is slimy as can be.
Neena
Brown
The tree bark is brown, and mud is brown.
I walk in my brown shoes all ‘round the town.
Tiger
Orange
Oranges grow in trees up so high.
Wanna get one? Just jump up and try.
Appu
Pink
Pink is a colour that’s sweet and mild.
Pink is a flower it grows in the wild.
Neena
Violet
Violets are pretty when they’re in bloom;
Some beetles are violet; They buzz and zoom.
Tiger: You’re right We should do this every day.
