Yoga – Tune your Body and Mind early on

Yoga, for all good reasons, is becoming a lifestyle choice of many. It reminds you to breathe, move and most importantly stay in tune with your body. Set it as a routine from childhood, it will be one that you hold on to for your life.

Yoga is a special activity that demands less time and space. What do you gain? A great appreciation for yourself and your body— it’s so powerful you radiate that sense of gratitude everywhere you go.

Children learn to brush, bathe, comb and groom at an early age of 5-6. Introducing them to Yoga is just another way of teaching them to take care of themselves. It’s in fact, a step forward, they learn to treat their body right and give it the respect it deserves.

The benefits of hatha yoga extends beyond just physical fitness. Rhythm is an element that everybody strives for in life. Your body and mind yield to every bit of yogic movement in the right measure and pace. You feel more integrated and balanced.

Early yoga training has proven to reap leaps and bounds of benefits. In a participatory group study of 5-9 year-olds conducted in the year 2007 in the United States, Canada and Latin America, children shared their rich and profound experiences of self-awareness. (Palgi, 2007, pp. 329-340)

Yoga is not a competitive sport. The key to well-being is with you, just as it should be. Every bend and every stretch is aimed at strengthening your core. Children deserve to be in charge of their body too…
